How Naksha works
The basics
- 5 questions about India every day: history, geography, polity, culture and more.
- For each one, tap the spot on the globe where you think it happened. One tap is your answer; there's no submit button.
- The closer your tap is to the real place, the more points you get.
- New questions arrive every day at midnight India time (IST).
- Everyone plays the same five on the same day, so scores are directly comparable.
How each tap is scored
- Every question is worth up to 200 points, so a perfect day is 1,000.
- Tap within 20 km of the answer for the full 200.
- After that, points fall smoothly with distance. A near miss still earns a lot; a tap in the wrong corner of India earns very little.
- All five questions are worth the same.
| Distance | Points |
|---|---|
| Spot on | 200 |
| 20 km | 200 |
| 50 km | 182 |
| 100 km | 156 |
| 200 km | 114 |
| 300 km | 83 |
| 500 km | 45 |
| 750 km | 20 |
| 1,000 km | 9 |
| 1,500 km | 2 |
The coloured squares
Each answer gets a square in your result and in shared posts:
| 🟩 | 160–200 | Very close |
| 🟨 | 100–159 | Right region |
| 🟧 | 40–99 | Ballpark |
| 🟥 | 0–39 | Far off |
The "Right state" tag after each answer is a bonus hint about where you tapped. It doesn't change your points.
The leaderboard
- Daily shows the top 50 for each day. Your own row is pinned at the top, even outside the top 50. Use the arrows to see the past 14 days.
- All time adds up every Daily Challenge you've played.
- Only your first play of each day counts, and the server re-checks every tap, so scores can't be faked.
- Pick the name shown next to your score in Stats.
Groups
Create a group, share the invite link, and everyone's Daily Challenge scores appear on your group's own board, today and all time.
Streaks and stats
- Your streak counts how many days in a row you've finished the Daily Challenge. Miss a day and it starts again.
- Stats shows your 7- and 30-day scores, totals, best day and how you do in each category.
Categories and Pro
The Daily Challenge, results, stats, leaderboards and groups are free for everyone. Naksha Pro adds unlimited category, topic and mixed rounds (questions you haven't seen come first), the archive of past Daily Challenges, and a strengths-and-weak-spots view by topic. Pro and archive rounds use the same scoring but don't count towards the daily leaderboard or your streak.
Tips
- Pinch or scroll to zoom, and drag to move the globe before you tap.
- The two-letter codes are state codes, as on number plates (MH, UP, KA…).
- Refresh mid-round if you need to; your progress is saved.
